On November 19, 2024 Bek Joy Alchemy was officially birthed into the Universe! When I woke up that day my first thought was that it only took 57 November 19th's of gestation to share a true expression of my authentic self. "Only" 56 years and 6 months time. My second thought was that it very likely actually took 57 or more lifetimes of November 19th's for this gestation. In that moment I felt both energized and exhausted at the same time. What a weird sensation that was! Luckily it passed quickly like a wave of extreme nausea and my attention turned to all of the tasks and plans that were still waiting to be completed to make Bek Joy Alchemy Offerings available to whomever they are meant for.
On this infamous November 19th day in 2024, while on my way home from the acupuncture clinic where I work part time as an administrator, I was on the Newport Bridge when I passed a big truck with a completely flat tire. Like total blow-out-flat! The driver had not pulled over, but instead was driving on the rim. The first thing my dad taught me at age 16 was whatever you do, never drive on a flat tire unless you want to ruin the rim too. My dad also taught me how to change a flat tire by myself, as well as drive a standard transmission car. Best dad ever. Sorry, I digress. Back to the flat-tired-truck. It was barely moving and the tire was smoking and it smelled horrific. The driver's vibe was panicky as he hunched over the steering wheel.
Before noticing the flat tire truck, I happened to be in the middle of video recording myself while driving, saying a few words about Bek Joy Alchemy launching that day (you never know when inspiration will strike and I was feeling inspired). I immediately laughed and realized it was a perfect metaphor for my health journey. It was about 8 years ago. My "alignment" was OFF, my "tire" showed signs of deflation, became flat, then blew out completely. I continued to "drive" on it while it was smoking, ruining the rim, and I was panicking while I watched other "cars" pass me by. What was needed and what I was finally forced to do, was to pull over to a full stop, jack up the "car", discard the flat "tire", repair the rim, replace the tire, "RE-ALIGN" the entire "car", lower it back down to the road, and then continue on my way.
I have had more than a few moments in the past 8 years where I wished things in my life had been different and easier. Once I learned how to truly accept things AS THEY ARE, and surrender to the wisdom of God, I more easily and quickly pivot my thoughts and feelings away from regret and shame. It is possible to feel the pain of life experiences AND choose to find a way to be grateful for it at the same time. It takes practice. It is simple AND not easy.
My physical health challenges had often been painful and difficult to accept. I have now overcome many of them! Addressing my emotional and mental dysfunctions has included taking full responsibility for my behavior, choices, and life. Understanding my life-long trauma response behavior and doing the de-conditioning work has been intense. The complete FREEDOM and love for myself that has come from all the work and painful experiences is worth it a hundred times over!
Spirituality is like a muscle. The more you intentionally "work" it, the stronger it gets. The stronger I feel in my Spirituality, the more inner-peace I feel. This has created a capacity within me to embrace the entirety of my experiences as a gift. Because of this, the meaning of life for me has become Self-Mastery while living in service to God and others. It only took 57 November 19th's and 57 lifetimes.
