 THE HEALING POWER
OF LIGHT

According to multiple PubMed studies, red light therapy can affect mitochondria in the following ways:

Increases ATP production

Red light therapy (photobiomodulation, or PBM) can increase the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in mitochondria. This is because red light (650-800 nanometers) affects cytochrome oxidase, or mitochondrial complex IV, which increases the rate of ATP formation.

Increases reactive oxygen species (ROS)

Red light therapy can also increase the production of ROS, which can participate in redox signaling. Redox signaling is involved in cellular homeostasis and proliferative control.

Reduces blood glucose levels

PBM with 670 nanometer light can reduce blood glucose spikes after meals.

Rescues brain mitochondrial dysfunction

Low-intensity red light irradiation can rescue brain mitochondrial dysfunction caused by acute hypobaric hypoxia in mice.

Stimulates muscle cells

LEDT with red and near-infrared light can stimulate muscle cells, with the optimal time window being 3-6 hours.

PBM is used to treat a variety of conditions, including pain, inflammation, edema, and damaged tissues. It's also used in skin rejuvenation, acne treatment, and body contouring.

What is Phototherapy aka "Light Therapy"?

Phototherapy(PhT) is a medical treatment in which natural or artificial light is used to stimulate cellular activity to improve a health condition.  Light creating change in the body is called Photobiomodulation (PBM).

Clinical studies have shown the following PhT health benefits:

  • Rapid Pain Relief

  • Reduced Inflamation

  • Supports Wound Healing

  • Energy & Vitality

  • Mental Clarity

  • Enhances Sports Performance

  • Faster Recovery From Exercise

  • Improved Skin Appearance
